FEEL LIKE YOU'RE BEING EATEN ALIVE BY HIGH TAXES?
It's one reason I ran for Woodbury Village Trustee. Since taking office I have monitored the many ways we could control spending. Being efficient with YOUR money must be a priority for the everyone serving in government. Needless to say, I was disappointed when the Village Board voted to do away with the 2% tax cap.
A few years ago, when I first ran for office, my logo was a two headed dragon. The two heads of the dragon represented the then Town board and Village board at loggerheads. The reality is that in the years since I first used this graphic, the problem has grown more serious with the Village board adamantly refusing to take part in Inter-municipal Agreement talks.
These 2 actions I describe above , demonstrate that our current system of 2 governments is not working well for the taxpayers. Recently Senator James Skoufis wrote about his concerns regarding the inefficiency that the duplication of services is costing us as tax payers. In his article he demonstrates in broad terms several ways to save money if Woodbury did away with its two government system. The Village and Town boards would continue to exist but in a consolidated form resulting in saving taxpayers money.
I whole heartedly support exploring the affect this would have in Woodbury. We need to be open to ideas that will reduce the friction between the two governments and see how we can work with the Senator regarding consolidation.
